Make sure the tarp is bone dry, as well as any guy lines or other stuff attached to it. Cool, dry place in a plastic bin.

Nailed it! As long as its dry, Dyneema can be stored in a cool, dry spot.

    Bit of a tangent here.

Lots of things mention "cool". Especially things like medicine. But with backpacking gear, would 80° really hurt anything?

I think keeping it in warmer temps affects the seam tape on packs and tents over a period of time. I quit storing my good gear in the garage and have them in storage bins in my home office.

I just keep mine in their stuff sacks and in my bin. I do speak to them from time to time.

LOL neglect was my problem then! I put a tent rain fly in a tote, covered, in my basement. I literally didn't even touch it for about 7 years. When I finally got it out, the seam tape was crumbly and I could easily rub it off with my finger without any effort.

I like rolling then sliding in snake skins vs stuffing or folding for long term storage. Clean and dry is a given.

Sometimes the ups and downs in temps can affect things like adhesive. I doubt the fabric would have an issue, but temperature controlled areas also see less mold growth and bugs.

I just started wondering about a few things since I try not to use the AC much these days. Up to 78-80° upstairs. I keep my packraft and thermarest sleeping pads in a spare closet. Certainly not cool, but I can't imagine anything happening.
