    SLD Trail lair tight Ridgeline

I dig my trail lair. I find it's most comfortable with the Ridgeline pretty tight, but that goes against common technique. Curious how you like yours? Mine is 11' x 65" wide.

Also, warbonnets advice for my eldorado about having tie out at eye and chest level helped a lot dial it in. Where do you find the tie outs to land on your trail lair?

    Thanks

I find that my Trail Lair ridgeline is usually pretty tight, too, even at a steeper angle than the usual 30. Since it’s Amsteel, I don’t much worry about it, since the hammock is so comfortable. I have the tie-outs where Jared puts them (chest and shin?) , but only used them once or twice. I prefer to sway a bit.

I hang my trail lair almost level and I went to a higher angle and a more loose hang and it’s an awesome rig. Add a couple inches to your ridge line

I would take this under advisement (ask Jared) because hammocks with integrated nets are designed with a specific SRL length that does not put stress on the net and/or zippers. I dunno, mabye adding/subtracting a couple of inches is okay, maybe not.

Also, adding SRL length reduces hammock sag, shortening it increases sag.

As long as the SRL is not as tight as the proverbial banjo string, you'll be fine.

My primary concern is that it’s comfortable. Depending on the hang spot, tree distance, attach point height, etc I may not always get the ‘easy to bend with you thumb’ ridgeline tautness, but as long as the hammock is comfortable, I don’t worry about it. I think thats’s actually part of its purpose / sort of like an autotune for your hammock hang rather than your voice!

I hang my TL similar to my chameleon with the foot end a bit higher. I also noticed super tight RL on my first few hangs and my first night in it I had the worst doggone charlie horse I could have ever imagined... My calf actually hurt for 2-3 days. Thankfully haven't gotten any calf ridge since and after some fine tuning it I was able to get the ridgeline looser on my home setup at least and feel I should be able to get it using straps in the field. I especially like the wide width on this thing as well - such a comfortable lay!

I set my hammock to 83% so I know the net is good then add a few inches to the length with an adjustable ridge line. It allows the sides of the hammock to relax and not put so much tension on the zippers. And generally makes for a more comfortable setup for me. And yes you do have to mind the net tension. Agreed. I setup so that all my RL does is keep the net off my face. It’s pretty slack.

I thought you were talking about foot end head end heights.

I really don't understand this, but if it works for you then okay.

I assume we're talking about GE and not spreader bar/bridge, and with GE the SRL determines hammock sag, which doesn't change whether there's 15 pounds or 150 pounds of tension on the SRL.

Or maybe there's something I'm not comprehending.
