    Bug net

Don’t the mosquitos bite through the sock opening under the hammock? https://simplylightdesigns.com/produ...entry-sock-net

It’s nice to not bug Jared on this one.

    Nope. For several reasons.

They don’t seem to understand that they can fly down to fly up, but always take a direct line approach.

You can cinch it closed if you like.

If you are using and underquilt then when you get it, the hole seals around the UQ and they also can’t get through.

Mosquitos are not bad where I live, but I never bother to cinch it up, I just get it.

So, lots of options depending on your big population and veracity.

    What Tpatter said.

I also never cinch mine down all the way. I do keep it cinched to a hole about two feet across. That let's me get in and out w/o any problems.

I have had mosquitoes bite through the bottom of my hammock, so now I use at least an UQP if I'm in major bug territory.

^^^^^^^Yep, what Taptter and LowTech said.

Occasionally I use a Dutch Half-Wit that has a sewn-in half net with an open end that just drapes over the abdomen area. Quite often it leaves small gaps but mosquitoes, flies and gnats never seem to find them.

I've done a week long scout camp using a Town's End with that style net and had zero issues.

As said, the skeeters don't seem to realize they can go down to go up.
