I met several campers from Oregon on the trip that said the same.

The coast of the Olympic National Park is fairly open to backpack overnights. I don’t have the link handy, but it’s easy to register online. Since Covid, they issue everything virtually so no need to travel to the ranger station to pick them up.

There are many camping opportunities from Cape Alava south. You could easily make a week out of it. Best part of you go mid week, you practically have it to yourself in many areas.

I’ve always wanted to camp on the Oregon coast. Is there a site that you recommend?

No, sorry. I tend to avoid car camping. I would recommend actually just getting a BnB and spend the time walking through town, shop the shops, fly the kites, and eat the eats. Bonfires on the beach are nice too.Seaside or The Rockaway beach area near Tillamook are good. Small town atmosphere without being kitschy or overly touristy. Easy beach access. Nearby Haystack Rock (an Oregon Icon). Neakanie Mountain hike (and true local pirate treasure legend that inspired the movie Goonies). Oswald west state park used to be a great camp location for hammocks but was closed to camping due to risk of getting crushed by old growth. The trees won.

For regular camping, Nehalem Bay State Park I hear frequently mentioned, but I can’t say anything about it personally
