Glad you had a great time. I held my breath hoping you didn't get turned off by the paddling experience. As you mentioned its just another way of seeing nature and don't have to give up backpacking.
Personally, I'm not a big fan of that many portages. It's too much work, especially for a solo trip. Setting up camp and day trip to other ponds or lakes is an easier option. You only have to portage your boat and a day pack.
You mentioned a paddle tether in your video. Here's one that I use. I sometimes bring a small packable paddle, just in case.
