Hammock, Where in the Pack, in the pack liner or out?

Where do you pack your hammock and why? Do you put it in your pack liner or outside of pack liner or even on outside of pack? I plan for tarp to go in outside pocket and of course quilts in pack liner, but what if hammock gets a little wet in the pack?

    Thanks,
    Maxx

I keep my hammock with my quilts if I'm backpacking, bikepacking, or car camping.
It just makes sense to me to keep my bed with my bedding and I generally unpack my quilts as soon as I hang my hammock.

Same. My usual order of packing is something like this (from bottom up):
    inside the liner:
    quilts
    sleep clothes
    food bag
puffy & remaining clothes except fleece
    cook kit & ditty bag
    hammock & first aid
    fleece
    outside the liner:
    tarp
    rain jacket
    snacks for the day

Me too. Hammock inside the liner. There are few things worse than sleeping in a damp hammock. I make as much effort to keep it dry as I do my quilts.

With one exception ... rarely, on particularly hot summer hikes when the nights are oppressive, I'll intentionally get my hammock wet to help keep me cool when I sleep. It's not particularly comfortable, but it's better than lying there, miserably hot, and soaking the hammock with sweat anyway. Naturally, when I do this it gets packed outside the liner until I get the chance to dry it out. But this is an extraordinarily rare exception.

I use a net hammock sock/skin from simply light designs, which is great for long trips like thruhikes. Hammock, quilts, pillow, down socks when colder quickly slip into sock, then into nylofume bag in bottom of pack. There’s a pocket for your suspension so everything travels together. You can redeploy the whole setup in a minute or two. You do have to be sure your hammock is dry, and I shake the suspension out when wet.

I'm running a DCF Bonefire Raven pack and Jeremy's Deluxe suspenion. The suspension and HG tarp go up first from outside pockets. Once up and secure, my hammock is in the pack, right on top with the head end loop where I can grab it and hook into the Ti hook on the tarp suspension, walk to the other end, where I hook the other loop in and done. Everything that needs to stay dry is never exposed to the elements until you are under shelter. No fiddling to get the hangle correct. The contact points are static.

Another thing I like about this particular kit using an 11' DCF tarp, is that you can unhook one end of the hammock and stuff it back into the pack while leaving the other end hooked up, opening up all the room under the somewhat minimalist tarp. I have plenty of room to set my stool up, get comfortable and even cook a little, out of the weather if need be. Doesn't seem near as confining.

Same here... super quick & easy deployment & take down. Stuff it all down in my backpack, works great.
