    Ridge runner

Just tried out the single layer ridge runner I got on the big sale. Fantastic price!
one thing that struck me was how small it was. Not a criticism, just didn’t notice from the pics and videos. It’s a fine size for me but just curious why they don’t make it a bit bigger. Just a case of price point and suitable for most maybe?

What's small about it? I'm 5'8" and 195lbs and it fits me fine. Is it the length or width you consider small?

I just tested it my hammock stand last night using my single layer Ridge Runner. I'm 6' tall, 190lbs and think it's a good size.

And that's coming from a guy spoiled by a Big Boy bridge.

I made a similar bridge myself, at least in regard to the head and foot widths. I'm 5'8 and 145#, and I think the feet get a little cramped, not the shoulders. I redid with an extra 4" on the foot spreader and it's noticeably more comfortable. For me. Not knocking Brandon's work, we all sleep different.

I don't find it small at all. I am 5'9" and 195 and have plenty of room width-wise and space at the foot to pile up clothes and still be stretched out.

First off … thanks all for the comments. I also want to reiterate that it wasn’t necessarily a criticism. I’m 5’11” 200 lbs. this is my first bridge hammock. This was also my first time setting it up. My only other hammocks are a hammock gear gathered end and the regular size haven. Absolutely love the saddle bags. And while it’s actually pretty close in length to the haven it just caught me by surprise how short it looked when standing back and looking at it. I’d be using it with a pad because for my size found a little to much shoulder squeeze for my liking. I think I’ll enjoy having it and the price was fantastic.

We all fit and hang differently, so what works for one might not work for another. It is a bit of crap-shoot ordering one and not having tried it. That was the first piece of expensive gear I ever bought without actually trying it out. I was glad it worked for me. I hope it works out well for you too. Happy hanging!

Well… I gotta say….. after my initial thoughts on my single layer RR….I love it! It’s perfect. After a few nights it’s much roomier than I initially thought. While I have read some thought it was a little tippy, I found it surprisingly stable. Plenty of built in storage and loved the ample space under the the bug net. While I did preface my original post by stating they were just initial observations and not criticisms per say, I’m happy to report back they were all unwarranted thoughts and could not be happier!

    Ridge runner

I am glad to hear you are liking your RR more. My satisfaction grew as I used it more in different seasons and circumstances. This spring I took quite a few trips to the Adirondacks in early spring when conditions were colder and wet. I used my Spindrift sock a lot and really appreciated having it as part of my kit. Before that, I only used it a couple of times and wondered how useful it would be. So I have found that the more I use a piece of gear and get familiar with it, the more I appreciate it.
