Becket hitch weight limit?

I like your theory because it allows me to keep doing what I want anyway, lol… essentially if you dress and hand-tighten you feel there is a minimal chance of slippage?

Far from expert, here, but I like to guess.

With slim, slippery webbing, some hitches might not always hold. But they work great for those who continue to use them, otherwise they would use something else.

Adding just one extra wrap can reduce chances of slipping, but there is even more to tighten and it’s easier to fail to tighten knots-hitches that have more wraps.
Once tightened a Lapp hitch or becket hitch will probably resist slipping at higher pounds of force, if it has just one extra wrap. I would not advise using two extra wraps, because there would be more chances that hitch never gets tightened completely.

Jeff Myers shows an extra wrap in one of his videos on Lapp hitch. But I think he tied it a lot different than I would think a Lapp hitch with an extra wrap would be. It held great!

Now you’ve tied your Lapp hitch or becket hitch with one extra wrap and have hand tightened it really tight. One more thing you can add.
A stopper knot no further than one inch from strap’s initial exit from the hitch. But still in the bunny rabbit ear or bight, a slip knot is added in strap on the side of bight that does not move.
This slip knot will stop the hitch from sliding more than one inch.
It’s too fat to be pulled through the hitch.
Slip knots are directional, if you tie it in backwards, it will not hold.

Even if I were to tie Lapp hitch or becket hitch without an extra wrap, I would absolutely add the slip knot, for my peace of mind.

agreed, on a CL it qualifies as a hitch, what i meant by "bend?" was "i wonder how it does as a bend too". as i said, the lapp is intriguing, thanks for sharing your experience with it

It works very well as a bend as long as the materials have some texture... works great with Glowire and not well at all with Zing-it and Amsteel unless they're tied to another grippy cord.

sounds good, it's definitely on the list to play with, thanks. most simple knots don't work well with dyneema, even the mighty zeppelin slides in dyneema, so i wouldn't hold it against the lapp.
