    3/4 length Ridge Creek

So, I'm trying a WBRR for camping where my Town's End BBBH is too big/heavy/no integral bug net.

Ordered a 45 degree Hexcam Wasteland Ridge Creek UQ to try out. I was at the lake this past weekend and got by with a "regular" UQ and was second guessing my decision.

Well, it was delivered as I was at the lake, so I slept in the backyard with the Ridge Creek last night. IMO, it's totally worth buying a dedicated bridge UQ. The attachment is stupid easy and it's not pulling on the ends like a non-bridge UQ did.

I was thinking I'd stay with down for my cold weather UQ, but now I'm leaning towards a Ridge Creek XL 15 degree.

I am new to the hammock world, with only a few nights in my RR.

I just picked up a 25 degree XL and am very pleased with the construction, fit, and simplicity. It took about a week from order to arrival. I plan on posting pictures of the olive green color in the wild, maybe this weekend (assuming it does not rain the whole time).

It's full blown summer here so I haven't slept with the UQ installed, but I'm looking forward to giving it a good workout next fall...

Edit: I went with the synthetic AHE mostly for entry price and damp weather dependability. I car and motorcycle camp, so pack size and weight are not as critical for me... but it is humid as hell and I do get stormed on a lot with high wind and sideways rain.

I agree. I've had a AHD Ridgecreek from my WBRR days and currently use it with a Hammocktent90. It may not be the best choice for backpacking due to the higher bulk over down, but for many uses, e.g. home or truck camping it is an excellent economical choice.

I ordered the Hexcam Wasteland Ridge Creek UQ for my WBRR several years ago. The fit is divine. Total comfort. And the Hexcam Wasteland colors are so attractive. Love my Ridge Creek.

I didn't know AHE made the Ridge Creek in a 15 degree version. Good to know!
May consider this upgrade for fall camping

Had a couple of cold nights with my 6.5oz Ridge Creek XL. We got down low enough for a light frost with a slight breeze from the NE.

Double layer Ridgerunner with 6.5oz Ridge Creek XL and an older model Kelty Cosmic 20 opened up like a top quilt. I also had a Kelty camp pillow, and an Army poncho liner in reserve. Nothing between the layers of the RR. Bug net was installed and I was under a Superfly with doors closed on the wind side.

I was wearing light cotton socks, flannel pj bottoms, t-shirt, and well worn generic polar fleece jacket.

Early in the evening I was toasty warm and eventually shucked off the socks and pulled my arms out of the jacket (I stayed on top of it as I knew I'd want it again later). By early am. I felt a little chilled so I put my arms back in the jacket and was perfect the rest of the night.

Verdict... definitely good to 32 degrees, and possibly lower with a stocking cap and good long johns, not to mention the ability to add something between the layers of the RR.

    Two thumbs up!
