Idk if this is the correct forum for this, but what are people's recommendations for UQ protector brands? Also, why do you like the brand you suggest?
Thanks!

I don't have a UQP, but I do have an SLD TrailWinder, which a combo UQ & UQP and it works great. Haven't tried any other brands, so I can't comment on them.

I have one from 2qzq and it works well. It weights about 6oz which is a tad heavy for backpacking. I want to make my own out of something like argon 49 or 7d nylon.
Hammock gear also has ones available in 20/15/10D. SLD and Dream Hammock also offer them. Choose your vendor of choice.
If you're not concerned about weight any will work fine.
The UQP is great. Since it never rains in SoCal I rarely use a tarp now and just use a UQP and solid top cover when its cold and windy. This combo has worked great in cool/dry/windy conditions
I dont have experience with the other brands, but I imagine they are all fairly similar. just make sure it has some adjustable elastic i the middle. This is necessary to take up any slack and block the wind.
2QZQ underquilt protectors are now being carried by Dutch, btw. Fantastic quality product. I love mine - best thing for keeping the rain and dirt off your UQ and worth the slight weight penalty - mine comes it at just over 5 oz. I think most of the weight is the cordage, and that could be swapped out fairly easily; the UQP is made from Argon 90. I'd imagine that if you message DutchWare they would tell you if they could custom make one out of Argon .49 or 7d for you but you might lose some of the temp boost/wind resistance factor - I'm not a fabric expert so I wouldn't know for certain.

another vote for 2qzq. I'm sure the other brands are great as well, but when I got mine, 2Q was the only game in town. I don't have any issues carrying it along on possible cold, windy, and/or wet trips. It may weigh 6 ounces but can be a great bit of insurance when you need it. I'm sure you'll get responses saying, "Get a winter tarp and be done with it". This philosophy works well for many, but I like the modularity of having the UQP. Different strokes for different folks.
Another vote for 2QZQ. Before Dutch bought (?) 2Q, I had a custom printed UQP made by Donna. An incredible job, and a great lady to boot. Her and Tim are both a pleasure to talk with.

I use a 2QZQ UQP with my Warbonnet RR , works great.
I rig my poncho as a protector. Works great and double duty.
Ambulo tua ambulo.
I have the Simply Light Designs UQP and I'm very happy with it.
It comes in Ion or Argon 90 of different colors.
Simple attachment and a suspension adjustment on each side
to lift it up if needed.
