    Amsteel in Canada?

    Hi all:

Just curious what are your sources of 7/64 Amsteel in Canada?

I found one place, (Hofman Outdoor Gear Supply) and am happy with service and quality, but am curious if there are other cheaper alternatives. Tried Amazon too, but what I got was weird flat waxy junk that is hard to work with and seems to slip on things like whoopies and UCRs.

    Thanks!

I did not know those guys, so great you "asked" what I got because I could not find anything else was "kite line" on Amazon. Emma kites UHMWPE line at the appropriate size. I needed it for my DIY Tensa and I got it in 'barely' the right strength due to covid availability but so far it has been holding great. I say barely because I like to be on the extra safe side but in reality it's the same size as the integrated ridge line that my WBBB XLC comes with.

Basically if you search for Amsteel it's like impossible to get here I found but if you are looking for the base material that the Amsteek brand is using its totally possible to find. Before finding the "kite line" I bought way oversized "winch rope", which is UHMWPE replacement for your steel car winch line and used that for making my own hammock ridge line for my first "cheap Amazon hammock".

Here is a cheap place for more than a hundred feet at a time. I assume you might want bulk if you are having trouble.

Looks to be a US supplier, not Canadian

    They will ship internationally.

I apologize if I misunderstood the intention of finding a supplier to provide cheap amsteel in Canada.

When what you were looking for is a company based anf owned in Canada that provides amsteel.

I'll admit I had "located in Canada" in mind when I posted this, but I wasn't clear.

In the end, if it still comes out cheaper when adding shipping, brokerage and all, I'm happy to order from the US when I'm not in a rush.

    Thanks for the link rmcrow2

I did a 2 second google search for marine supply Canada and Sailing supply Canada and found more than a handful of places from New Brunswick to Vancouver. The two sites I checked both carried Amsteel. Didn't seam to be a hard search.

Searching Google is one thing, I did that too. By asking fellow hammockers here I was hoping to also get an idea of their experience with the shops. "I tried this place and it took forever to get here", "they were missing half the items by the time they processed my order" or "I had a really tough time returning things".

Sorry if this wasn't worded in a way that made this obvious...
