    backyard hammock stand?

Anyone successfully setup their camping hammock with a backyard stand? I don't have trees and wondered if these might work. I'm not sure if the attachment point will work since they wrap around a "U" then attache to the hook.

    Thanks!

I built a turtle-dog stand and use it in the yard quite often. You can find directions for several different stands on here.

those things (original post) are very annoying, even if they are large enough to fit your hammock (which they often are not). i have one which is just about usable, but i ended up never using it, mainly because of that central bar underneath and the very limited hang options.

for backyard use, best would be to DIY something like a tensahedron stand (cool factor of backyard elevated as a bonus), or a turtle dog stand as shown above, i would avoid the commercial stands with the bar waiting under your spine if at all possible.

What size is that pipe that you are using? I don't have good tree options in my yard and want to build something and this looks great if it's sturdy.

Thanks for all the feedback. Looks like a solid "nope" on the classic hammock stand. The pipe idea looks great. I've got one anchor point (eye bolt in ledger board on house) so will DIY one side.

I really like fence rail stand. There's a long thread on that. Very simple and few pieces of mess with when setting up/storing.

    I have 3 of these

One is an Algoma brand, identical to the above.

The one in the original poster's photo is shorter in length.

I can slide it into the shade if I want, turn toward the sun if I want, set at the top of the field, anywhere on the property. On one I shortened the middle pole a little so as to fit inside permanently in the window room for my post-lunch long siestas. Or at night if I wish. I'm a biphasic sleeper.

The downside is that you will hang lower to the ground perhaps than you're used to. Maybe not. If you have trouble getting up and out of something low, this is not for you. You can put your tarp high over head with pipes or poles or 2x2 wood extensions zip-tied or taped to the end angled stand pieces.

These have a weight capacity for the most overweight hangers. And will support a doublewide with two average people if you like to snuggle.
