    Amok draumr and exped mats

Hi all. I’ve seen that the exped downmat will work with the draumr but I’m curious if anyone has tried the megamat or deepsleep models in a dramur?

It’s definitely a car camping setup, but I’m not even sure if it would work. I can’t tell the direction of the baffles with the megamat or deepsleep models from the online photos. I’m guessing they might be horizontal, in which case they wouldn’t work. I thought I’d ask the knowledgeable group here in case anyone has tried it.

    Thanks

The Draumr need a pad with baffles running head to toe for best results.
So hard to say on the 2 pads you mentioned.

I have used Exped syn and down mats in a number of hammocks including a draumr, as well as some others with cross-tubes. The expeds work great and are sufficient for most needs. I really don't see why you would want to use a megamat. Although I don't know what a deepsleep is, I am assuming it is closer to the megamat than the syn/down 7 or 9 series.

I agree using a megamat (even if possible) certainly isn’t ideal. I might want the mega mat (or deepsleep) for tent car camping with others. Dual purposing would save me a bit of dough. Sounds like there are better ways to do that though.

I sent an email to exped and they just replied. Looks like the megamat is probably out - it has horizontal baffles. I’ve not seen the deepsleep model but weirdly they said it doesn’t contain baffles. I have no idea how that would work. Their other models have lengthwise baffles, which explains why the down and syn work well.

i think it's awfully close to too large for the draumr

the synmat9 is about as large as you can go

not fully inflated, it would work but that's not ideal imo

Yeah it looks like the deepsleep MW would fit but would be a bit short. The megamat not so much. All in all it’s probably not worth the hassle but I would be curious to know if anyone out has both and wants to try it
