Posting from the top of Brushy Creek Mountain. Really glad right now that I decided to split up those 6 ridges! I guess the trail builders never heard of switchbacks! Trip report to come.

Peak #5, huh (or #2 if hiking clockwise). I completed the ERL this past December, and loved every minute of it!
#5. Got through 3 yesterday and said enough. It’s absolutely gorgeous out here, but truth be told, I’m having one of those days when I’m wondering about it! I’ve been robbed by a ring faced bandit, I woke up with 4-5 spiders in my shoes, and at the moment I’m getting rained on. All part of the experience, right?!
There IS a switchback....one.....did you miss the one? LOL
Twice I've started at the NW corner and got 4 out of the way on the first shorter day (hiking 2 PM until DARK).

Lol, there WERE a few on peak #6, and I was eternally grateful. Well, my knees were. Downhill like that’s a fun-suck. I didn’t do much in the way of “strategy,” even though it was forecasted to rain. I was a little arrogant and said, “I want to start at FR106 and do Winding Stairs last.” So I did. I DID do some strategizing after peak #1...
But home now, and the day definitely improved. I might even go as far as saying the spiders all piling out of my shoes was worth it...says the arachnophobe. Mentally scarred from that, though. For sure. Shoes will never hang from the hammock straps again. There will be Fort Knox around my shoes.

Omg, I would’ve passed out. No doubt. I saw a big, hairy, Hollywood style tarantula cross the trail on the OT, but it was thankfully heading the other way.
The raccoon bandit was completely my fault. I left a ziplock of coffee and my spoon in a stuff sack on the ground. Had I been farther from the car than 100 yards, I’d have made do, but I drove the 25 miles for a box of spoons. Cost me half a day.
And yes, little incidents aside, I had a blast! Made it back to the car with about 10 minutes of daylight to spare. River gauge was 9ft this morning, so I’m glad I got out when I did! I’ll definitely be planning a return trip to the winding stairs area - I only had time to hike through and take a few pics. I could’ve stayed there for days!
WHAT THE SPIDER!!!! OMFG
Yeah...immersion therapy is helping. I no longer hyperventilate. Often.
Trip report is finally done, for those who want to read it...
