I use a utility mat from Campcraft Outdoors.
Besides using it on the ground near the hammock while getting in and out of the hammock, I find it useful around camp for a variety of things when I need to kneel and put things on that I don't want on the ground. It is a heavy canvas with a piece of Tyvek inside. Personally, I don't any cutting on it since I don't want to damage it. I think it is too flat and stiff to use as a pillow.
A 2'x2' piece of clear plastic film meant for insulating windows (also known as polycryo) weighs less then an ounce and folds up tiny. Rocks, chunks of wood or gear items will hold it down. Useful as a picnic cloth on lunch breaks. Word of caution- it will be slicker than snot when placed on snow (don't ask me how I know this). It's surprisingly durable.
