    RR vs Dramur setup speed

Curious if anyone has looked at this...I can now set up my RR with decent speed, and generally get the angles right on the first try (sometimes a small adjustment needed).

Wondering - for those who have spent time with both - if the Amok Dramurs set up faster (& if so, by how much?) I'm guessing they do, but looking for firsthand knowledge.

The new Dramur UL is still going to be half a pound or so heavier, but despite my UL tendencies, I am willing to consider a bit more weight for setup speed.

Amok....Pretty quick and easy though you do have to inflate a pad.
Just try to get the ridgeline level.

Thanks Shug! I use a pad in the RR too - like the structure it gives, and the pad does double-duty as a pack frame.

once pad is full, draumr takes less fiddling that gathered ends, imo

This is good to know - I've wondered about getting the Draumr "level" and if that's a fiddly affair. I'm wondering if a very small bubble-level on the ridgeline would help?

Also, what is it like to fill up the pad without using the ground? In a tent, it's easy to do within the tent (and out of the rain). I've never tried using the inflation sacks while standing up and don't have one to test with now.

I've inflated pads numerous times standing up, e.g. with the pad in the back of the pickup or in a hammock. Even did so a couple of times this past weekend. Works fine, if you can chew gum and walk at the same time you got this.

I am getting ready for a Boundary Waters trip and reviewed the set-up for my Amok. I found a video where the reviewer placed the pad over the ridge line and inflated it. I tried it and it worked really well, no need for the pad to be on the ground. I Deflated it and rolled it back up the same way. all while standing.
