Extra attachments along under quilt sides?

I've been doing the hammock thing for a long time (2006) but I'm going over my whole sleep system now.

I've been mostly satisfied with things the way they were but have thought about a number things I could improve.

The question here is that I have seen and herd talk about using a few clips or some other kind of adjustments along both sides of the hammock to keep the under quilt centered and snug.

In looking around I see at least a couple mentions but would like to learn a little about what's being used and it really seams useful.

This is https://dutchwaregear.com/product/pack-hooks/ what I use, I see one about 10-12” from the head and foot end on each side of my hammock (measure along the hammock where you want to connect the shock cord, with your hammock and quilt set up), then put the pack hooks onto the hammock with a bit of grosgrain.

Alternatively, you could use the triangle thingies? https://www.arrowhead-equipment.com/...eThingies.html

Many of the hammock vendors have optional (or even standard) UQ clips, aka pack clips on the hammock edge. Check them out, for example, at Dutchware or Dream Hammocks. I think they're standard on Dutch's Chameleon and Papa Smurf definitely offers them as an add-on.

( I see I was second in line...)

    Thanks.
What is on the under quilt that hooks to the pack clips.
Just wanting to get the full picture since I haven't seen this in person or in a picture.
Next hang I go to I'll ask who has this.

The shock cord (yellow arrow) is the UQ main suspension that runs the length of the hammock, from s-biner to s-biner. You hook that to the pack hook (red arrow). I usually hook up the outside shoulder pack hook...helps keep the UQ from popping off my shoulder. This image is from the foot end.

I do a similar thing with my Cumulus (European) underquilt and Hennessy hammock. I have a clip + short shock cord from the quilt's secondary suspension (running the length of the underquilt) to the hammock's side tie-out rings. My experience is that it mainly helps when I use the tie-outs to spread the hammock (which I do most of the time), then the clips prevent the quilt from slipping down under the tie-outs.

Slowhike, I dont know if this would help but remember Ed Speers Snugfit UQ? https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...it-Underquilts
His UQ fit snug all around any gathered end hammock because of the "pleats" on the ends of the UQ. It was an engineering marvel that took all the hassle out of UQ adjustments. It was very time consuming to make thus expensive. Reason Im mentioning that is because I have found my Warbonnet Wookie works very similar to the Snugfit and fits all my gathered end hammocks pretty easily. Just food for thought if you are considering changing UQ's

I use UQ hooks if the hammock has them, haven't found they're critical though for a good UQ fit. If I'm going UL and they're not already attached to the hammock I want, I wouldn't add them. If they're already there or I'm building a more general use option, I use them.

I do have a 3/4 Operator UQ on order from LLG. It does not have a secondary suspension to save weight. My thinking is that I'm going to tie a slip loop right at the UQ hook to keep the Operator on my diagonal a bit better than it just hanging loose. Has anyone else tried this before?

Thanks for the info each of you.
I have ordered some of the cord locks linked below.

They can be sewn onto the hammocks side edges, two on each side.
I plan to sew a short piece of shock cord to the UQ edges to match.
Simply run the shock cord attached to the UQ through the cord locks and the UQ can be adjusted, snug or loose.

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I have not had to much issue with the UQ but occasionally when it's cold, I have to pull it up on one side or the other.

Oh yes, I do remember the Snugfit Under Quit.
It was invented by Dave (Young Blood) Womble and sold by Ed Speer.

It was a work of art but unfortunately, like you said, very complex in design and very time consuming to make, thus expensive.
It was the first articulated (I guess that's the right word) UQ, leading the way to many fitted UQs to be made by others.

I think I was about the 20 or 30 something member to join the newly formed Hammock Forums in 2006, after it spun of White Blaze so I had the privilege of getting to know Young blood, Ed Speer and others back in the day.

There was a lot of open discussion and spit balling on hammock camping improvements.
    Exciting time.

If you choose to go to my profile and gallery, you can see things I shared with the group, along with dates.
