Congratulations on such a momentous and prestigious accomplishment. Your accomplishments are admirable and the notes and pics from the trail have allowed some of us to live vicariously through them.

Hammock set up used, now you have the secret sauce to hammock the CDT.
I figured if I was going to hike an “unhammockable” trail I needed to get a set up that would be awesome in the extremely unlikely event I found two trees along the 2600+ mile CDT. Here’s the hammock set up I used. As always your mileage may vary.
Suspension: DIY 12’ Dyneema straps from @myerstechhammocklab with toggles from @dutchware_gear. Hanging from threads I stitched every night was cool. These straps are pound for pound the best straps I’ve ever used. A long strap is super helpful for the odd hangs you come across on the CDT.
Tarp: @hammockgear standard tarp with doors. I’ve used this style tarp on all three of my thru hikes. I got a replacement one sent out on the CDT but in general this tarp has been excellent for my hammock and on the ground. The customer service from these folks for thru hikers has also been top notch.
Insulation: Underquilt was end same @hammockgear 20F Phoenix 3/4 950 fill used on the PCT supplemented with my backpack pad under my feet and my down jacket under my neck with inflatable pillow. Top quilt was @hammockgear 20F burrow 950 fill. Had a few cold spots but in general the quilt performed well and maintained its loft.
Hammock: Used @dutchware_gear .67 cloud half-zipped up until mile 1000. Had some issues with it and wasn’t comfortable to continue using it given the logistical issues with getting a new hammock shipped out quickly on the CDT. Switched to the same hammock in 1.2 hexon and finished the trail with it. Have used Dutch’s hammocks for all three trails in 11’.
The only areas that were difficult was the first section up to Silver City in which I carried a inflatable pad and cowboy camped and the basin where I carried a tent and did a 24hr 68 mile push to get back to hammock land. The rest of the time I camped with people who tented easily. There were a few times I had to be creative but the CDT is for the most part hammock friendly.
