After a short run into Breckenridge, CO I made my way north on the official CDT route until I got to the line going up Grays peak which is the highest point on the CDT. I chose to take the old CDT Aegentine spline route and made my way very slowly over Grays peak and saw many many of the locals. After two hammock camping spots a little too close to the road I made my way to Berthud pass and down to the town of Winter Park, CO. A little rest and resupply and then I will head out towards Grand Lake, CO. The border is loaming and the state of Wyomomy is lurking in the distance. The journey north continues.

Will have to trade my hammock out for a tent in Wyoming for a section through the basin, not sure if those updates will qualify for long distance travel with a hammock but I'll update you guys anyways.

    Thanks for following

    Nice.

How was the Colorado Trail part? I'll be doing that in two weeks.

    Man...
Those mountain top, and ridge line photos are so outstanding.
I love cool clouds on trail, in the mountains, and you've certainly got some photos of some.

And Mountain Goats!! That's so cool man!

The Great Basin looms... Looking forward to more updates.

The CT is meticulously maintained and was a gorgeous trail. The CDT goes on the west colligate loop so I can't speak for the east loop but the CT section was excellent.

You mentioned above that Gray's Peak (14,278') is the highest point on the CDT which got me looking at maps because Elbert is higher (14,433'), and sure enough Elbert is a tough little side trip involving a ~4000' climb in about 3.6mi. Very impressive!!

Highest point on CDT Continental Divide Trail, or is it just off trail far enough, to be not considered when listing highest points on trail?
    Is that above the treeline?

Yep, way above treeline! And way more than a hop-skip-jump off the CDT!!

I did Elbert. It's not on the CDT. There is a connector trail but the CDT goes around the base. The South one is great, the north connector is pretty rough but I went down it and passed about a million day hikers.
