Oh! I see that now. YUM!
And is this warning about not eating it in one sitting a voice of experience?

Made it to Cuba at mile marker 629. This section was highlighted by getting to climb 11k Mount Taylor and low lighted by my pack liner failing the last day before I went into town. Still stayed warm I'm my HG top quilt even when it was a little damp. The next section will continue to close in on Colorado. Recent snow in this section is going to make the next few weeks interesting.
Hammoking has been less tricky but hard to keep stakes in the ground in the beach sand. Still have to love being cradled in comfort

I don't make it to HF all that often, and so didn't know about this thread...
But,
I'm dang glad I logged on and found it! Great seeing how you're doing bro, and all the
amazing photos! Thanks for taking the time and sharing!
NM dwindling away, and CO coming up!

Made it to Chama off I-84 near ghost ranch for the first trip to Chama. Got my box with snow gear and prepared to do the remaining 100 miles to the CO border. New Mexico has been outstanding but I saw the mountains for the first time today and am ready to climb out of the desert.

Amazing pictures! I never would have thought of bringing my hammock in the CDT. I actually just bought my first tent in over decade in preparation for the CDT. I was so glad I brought my hammock on the PCT last year, definitely had some tramily members jelly of the instant comfort.
Are you going to need your backup pad the whole trip or are you able to ditch it at any point?

I sent my pad home in Silver City, I'll get it back for the basin section. There's one area of the San Quans where I'll slide down an alternate for a camp spot but besides that it's been hammock city, especially after Cuba. I slept on the ground 3/4 first week of the trail but besides that hammocked every night sometimes had to get a little creative but found a spot even camping with tenters.

5/28/21: Mile 777.3 entered Colorado. Fought some snow for the finish and am going right back into it in a few days for some Colorado fun. Only slept on the ground 3 nights the first week and through selective hike planning and Intel from Chop I have slept craddled in comfort every other night even with tenters hiking around me. Stayed extra warm in my 20F Hammock Gear burrow, I don't know how much overfill they put in it but I was sweating this morning camping at 10k. I'd give New Mexico on the CDT 8/10 for hammocking the first section and the desert canyons can be a little tricky. Bring 12' straps and be prepared to get creative.
