Thank you; Best overview of Hammocking (set up, different models, etc.)?

Hi All, Longtime backpacker, hiker and paddler, but still learning about hammocking and new to Hammock Forums. Thank you for this community.

Appreciate any suggestions for a good book or blog post about Hammock Setup - suspension, insulation, types of hammocks, etc.? Something like the Allen & Mike series of short books on backpacking, backcountry skiing, etc., which will give a good intro overview?

Shug Emery on YouTube and Derek Hansen’s book, The Ultimate Hang are the best references available.

Yep, those two will cover everything you need to get started and pretty close to finished. Once you get through the bulk of those, come back here to start digging into the nitty gritty.

Thanks! That's exactly the book I was thinking about, just couldn't remember what it was called. Familiar with Shug's brand of camping and mayhem, I'm a big fan

I would just go to his channel and sort by most viewed or highest rated? Really any of his videos are worth it, but some of the more broad topics are where to start. Watch a few and you’ll get an idea of what you want to watch next.

His videos are very entertaining that I subscribed to his channel and watched all of them.

His videos inspired me to practice different setups and tricks, but I could not get the juggling down.

    Hey Wildswalker.
Id say learn to just hang the hammock correctly first.
Then get into some insulation whether pad or UQ. Many new folks start with pad.....https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL...PBkH55Ns90zkAu
Use your sleeping bag in quilt mode.....
There is a huge learning curve but enjoy the process. You only get to be new once.
