Hello from Eau Claire, Wisconsin

I have been camping for years (decades actually), mostly BWCA/Quetico from a canoe, but I am just getting started with the hammock. Lots for me to learn and this forum looks like a great place to get started. So many choices!

Shug's videos are what hooked me in the first place. So many choices out there. I can see how going to a group hang would be a great way to "see" what is out there.

Welcome to the forum! I'm down in Milwaukee and hosting a hang next month in your neck of the woods! Check out the thread on this year's BACONFEST! We will be at Lake Wissota State Park in Chippewa Falls. You'll see a lot of hammock set ups and can ask all your questions. Hope you can make it!

I will be in the Boundary Waters until the 22nd or so, but If I get back in time I will try to stop by.

I am using a homemade 1.6 hyper D fabric hammock with a One Tigris tarp. The tarp is a bit heavy and I will probably be looking at a different one in the future. as I am just starting out camping with a hammock I was reluctant to spend a lot of money on it. I also purchased a Jacks R Better underquilt and top quilt. Which are very nice. You should have seen my first set up, it was a Hodge podge of stuff I had laying around but it helped me decide that I prefer a hammock over a tent. I really am enjoying the whole new to me aspect of this.
