    I think I read somewhere that it's about 6g/ft ....

However, if you check them out on Dutchware website it indicates that a pair of 8' straps weighs 161.3g which works out to 10g/foot. Pretty heavy.

(In order to find out the weight you have to select options and then the weight is displayed.)

Yes, sorry I had to edit above... looks like 10g/ft.

Depends on how you're using them and whether or not you're a UL gram weenie. I'm okay up to 3.3g/ft—which describes my preferred Kevlar—but beyond that I start thinking more about it.

Today I briefly tested some of the lightweight blue polyester straps that Autumn Ultralight sells. They're 3.3g/ft and have a 900lb rating, which is something I'm going to keep in mind. And they're definitely more stretchy than Kevlar, which was quite evident with this 18' hang. I'm a bit under 170lbs and I think they'll work for me, especially with shorter hangs of 13-15 feet.

One thing I read in the description of the Kevlar straps is that they don't work for any kind of buckle.
I guess that would apply to climbing rings with the back up slip knot too?

Looking at the 3000 may be overkill anyway.
I don't know what the 1" black straps I have are but I've been using them for years.
I only feel concern when the trees I choose are farther apart than usual.

I would likely be fine with straps rated at 1500lbs.

That’s a good question about the Kevlar and the rings. I can’t help there, as I use the Kevlar as my huggers and the spider as my webbing strap of choice when using the rings.

My partner, who used to teach baby wearing, was excited to see the rings on the hammock, as apparently some baby wearing systems use them!

Kevlar and rings...? Hmm, maybe, since there are no sharp corners. Definitely not buckles—they actually need a very small radius corner to work—nor most of the bling which has very minimal chamfering of the corners.

Dutch has a huge selection of webbing, and the plain-jane 1500lb poly webbing is in the ~7g/ft range. I have tested this stuff and also the more expensive and slightly lighter (~6g/ft) poly-spider and they're only slightly more stretchy than Kevlar and also buckle-approved.
