Great to hear!
andrew,
Sounds like a great intro to this new way of camping. Hard conditions and success. Nicely done.
FWIW, even if my tarp is deployed in heavy wind and I am not inside the hammock to keep it stationary/safe, Ill use 3 shoe laces and tie the Underquilt, Top Quilt and Underquilt protector together. I do this over the hammock ridgeline. I section the bundle in thirds, just in case the tarp fails. If I am going tarp less, Ill actually do this during the day, if I am out of camp, just in case. Never know when a gust of wind, can come up.
Cougarmeat hit on this. A lot of times, I am out of camp fishing or hunting for extended periods. Ill tie up the UQ,TQ and UQP as mentioned above. Ill take down the sleep set up and stow it in my pack. Ill leave the suspension on the trees. Ill usually stash my back in a hidey hole just in case a thief shows up. When I return from camp, I just hook the bundled sleep system back on the appropriate carabiners and I am ready to sleep. Easy Peasy.
The shoelaces are a multi use item, for in camp. When not tied up on the sleep system, the cotton shoe laces are deployed as drip lines. They also make great clotheslines and hang lines, for a cookset/trash bag etc.
Have fun.
Bob
Can you explain the "catch-all"?
. I will say that it would have been a vastly less satisfying experience without the catch-all. That thing made everything so much easier.
Thanks
