Never did get a chance Easter weekend to get mine up & pictures taken. Busier than a one-legged man in a butt kicking contest. As I have zero trees in my yard and a full schedule for the next several days I'll have to wait until next week sometime. I have to travel up to upstate NY on Tuesday (13th) and will bring it with me to try & string it up while there. Probably do a day hike at Jay Mountain just south of Plattsburgh & do it there out in the woods. I do remember with my Draumr 2.0 the trickiest part for me (6' & 250lbs.) was the getting in & out. I can't imagine that has changed any. We'll see!

I'm hoping with the smaller footbox it will be a lot easier.

BTW, the shipment was just held up in customs in LA. Hopefully it won't delay them much longer.

My Draumr UL was delivered Friday, late afternoon. I had ordered the standard size (I'm ~ 6' 190 LBS) with the pole set to extend the foot box and head end. I have a Draumr 3.0, but haven't used it much in the last couple of years. My main hammocks are Hammocktent 90 Degree Gamma UL and Betta (netless). Unfortunately, the company has gone out of business, so I wanted to get something fairly light weight to work into the rotation. I really like all of the improvements that Amok has made since 3.0, hence the purchace.

First thing out of the box that I noticed was that the tree straps were quite narrow. They only measure about 3/4 of an inch wide. Not what your park rangers want to see, and not great in my way of thinking either. I larksheaded a couple of continuous loops through the existing buckles that are attached to the hammock. This way I can use my Poly/Spider tree straps with Dutchclips and Beetle buckles. No big deal.

I set up in the woods behind my house, using a Big Agnes Insulated Q-Core SLX air mattress. It fits fine, and even though it doesn't technically have the longitudinal air chambers, it holds up great.

Either I had forgotten how to enter a Draumr or I am getting to be really uncoordinated in my old age. That sucker is slippery as heck. Once you are in, all is fine, but I definitely need ongoing practice. It is less stable than the Hammocktents, but again, I'm sure it will be fine with more familiarity. It is a little tough to maintain balance while zipping the bug net around the foot end. Practice!

Speaking of the bug net and the fabric in general, this is something different. Having read about some major failures with Monolight fabric, I was a bit concerned with the durability. However, the UL is mostly double layered and your weight is usually distributed on the sleeping pad. Also, the many straps carry a lot of the stress. The fabric is a looser knit than regular ripstop, so it does allow air to pass through. It seems almost more permeable than regular noseeum netting. This will be great in warm weather, but you will want to be sure that you have plenty of insulation when it's cold and windy.

I have slept in it for two nights and have been fairly impressed. Not quite as comfy as the Hammocktent hammocks, but not bad at all. There is still a lot to get used to, especially the entry and exit. So far, thumbs up!

Kghiker I was thinking about doing the same thing with a continuous loop. I noticed the same thing about the straps. Measured them yesterday after I set mine up. Not sure what to think about getting in and out of the hammock. Hammock is very slippery.
I do like how see through the fabric is.

It's here! I finally received my Amok Draumr 5.0 yesterday. It took a lot of fiddling to get it set up with the Tensa hammock stand, and I still have some fiddling to do, but so far it is fantastic.

I know this is a thread about the ultra light version but for anyone coming here having difficulties picking between the standard XL and the ultralight XL like I did, I just want to say:

The standard XL kit with tarp and the winter r value 5 pad is not a heavy kit. Just because its not ultra light, doesnt mean its heavy.
I recieved my full kit this am and was surprised how little volume and weight the kit actually was. Way less than any of my GE kits which Im now discontinuing (except some for naping and kids to relax in when cooking outdoors)

The full kit is to me still pretty light. Then obviously the UL will be even lighter for those who needs it.

Im now returning to garden to take a nap in my new draumr 5.0
