    Question Recommendations for a hammock?

Hey guys, It's been a while. I decided this year I was going to look into getting a new hammock system and retire the old one. But since I have not been hammock shopping in seven years, I need a little help trying to understand the new suspensions and fabric choices.

    Abit about me:
I am 5'2 and 200lbs. I backpack as light as I can but am not a gram counter. I also sleep with two small dogs, so extra 30-35lbs of weight and material can't be super undurable. Because I am so short, I always struggle to put my hammock super high. So, is there a suspension material that won't stretch horribly? By the time it stretches, my *** is on the ground. lol

Also: Cost. I'm trying to stay under $150 for suspension, ridgeline, hammock.

What's the best material for me? I was checking out a comparison video but am still kinda confused.

    Thanks,
    Cara

Might need durable hammock fabric if dogs get in hammock too.
Place your order EARLY, there can be some lag time, from backlog of orders

If the “kids” can sleep under your hammock or in their own hammock next to yours, you can consider a more person friendly material for yourself. From a fabric store, buy some yardage of material that will handle the dogs. Gather and tie the ends. The dog’s probably won't need a bug net, side pockets, ridge line organizer, etc.
In order to see what few have seen, you must go where few have gone. And DO what few have done.

Fabrics aside, you can end up with butt-on-ground if you try to hang the hammock up too straight, such as when trying to span long distances. With a steeper sag angle, it is less likely to sink when you get in. I don't understand why, but it works.

I would go right to the vendors with your questions. Dutch ware has great hammocks, single layer and double layer. Will also sell materials.

You might also contact & discuss with AutumnUltraLight or SimplyLightDesigns as they both do custom work. They can also make whatever you want, even though their names emphasize "light" gear!
