GA AT, spent the night camping at Devils Kitchen :)

Spent the night camping at Devils Kitchen
A buddy and I have been doing weekend size chunks of the Ga AT, and this weekend tacked on approx. 15 miles.

This time if year is lots of fun on the Georgia AT, we are getting approx. 50+ thru hikers each day and the energy is pretty awesome. We camped with 5 other people, one from Maine who had hiked all over Maine and have lots of great stories, a couple from Alabama who were out for a couple of days, a solo from Chicago and another from GA. We spent the night talking about food, gear and weather and just had an awesome night, the next morning we hiked to Gooch Gap for some trail magic, hot breakfast and hot coffee.
It was a great weekend, working out some of the bugs in my system and getting back in hiking shape

Sounds great! I've hiked a good chunk of GA AT but don't recall hearing about Devil's Kitchen. Where is it?

Funny how we all enjoy different aspects of the trail!

I read your headline before clicking into the report and immediately thought "Ugh, the Georgia AT must be crawling with Thru Hikers right now". Not that there is anything wrong with Thru Hikers but I usually try to avoid busy times on the trail in search of solitude. However, you obviously enjoyed and got energy from seeing so many people.

    Different strokes for different folks!
