    Fabric strong enough for dog?

I had an ENO double nest and its fabric was pretty beefy. I felt confident bringing my 14lb dog in it with me and never had problems from her hanging with me. I have only bought 1.6 fabrics from cottage mfg's and dont trust it against my dogs nails.

Does one of the cottage mfg's have a thick, beefy fabric as strong as ENO's double nest? is 2.4 thick enough to trust with a small dog? (shes on my lap or a blanket the whole time, so mostly it would be a rogue claw that makes it outside my lap/blanket).

Or in general, which brands offer the beefiest fabric?

    Thanks

I can't answer what is best for dog claws, but I know you can get a Dream Hammock made from 2.2 Hex70, which is a fabric I've handled before and I think that would be more than tough enough for the job.

I’d be curious about this too. I have two from about 50 for one and maybe 70 lbs for the other. I think they’d love a hammock.

My 54 lb. beagle Joey seems to do fine with 1.6 fabrics - haven't had a rip yet.

I believe there are booties for dogs. Maybe easier/better feeling than rugged hammock material.

In order to see what few have seen, you must go where few have gone. And DO what few have done.

I'm gonna tell your dog you said that!

I used Supplex nylon (also called Taslan) for my dog hammock. It's strong and very soft. Ed Speer used to make hammocks for very large people with it.

Once I bought a “clearance” hammock that was rated at 400 lbs. I didn’t need that margin - it was just a bargain price. But the material was like a thick canvas. I returned it the day after it arrived.

Well I finally tried sleeping with my 14lb jack russell/chihuahua in the hammock this weekend.

Went flawless. I brought her normal thin/slightly padded dog bed thats about 12x18". I put her on her bed on top of my thighs and slept until about the middle of the night. When I got up for my nightly pee I moved her to my side and she wedged perfectly between my hip and the hammock on the floppy side (I lay Head Right and she was on my right side). This also worked well and did not cause any discomfort. I slept a solid 8.5 hrs like this.

I dont see any issues doing this in the future. Adjusting the quilt is a little more difficult and you have to plan ahead a little more, as getting in/out or getting adjusted is slightly harder, but not bad.

She freaking loved it. I woke up to her smiling, started petting her, she woke up but decided she wasnt ready to get up, so she stuffed her face under the costco quilt and went back to bed.
