Good to see another Oklahoman on here. I use Dutch wasps and tarpworms, I just like the ease of not messing with knots. The hardware and guy lines (shock cord and Lawson glowire) stay attached to the tarp with a lark's head.

The tarpworms, while convenient most of the time, can be a little tough with cold fingers.

I like to use a prusik knot threaded through itself. No hardware needed.

Can we get a close-up of that or explanation of how to tie it? It's not obvious to me what I'm looking at.

Sure, I just made a small fixed loop on one end of a 7ft piece of zing-it, then made a 3” loop on the other end.

Then I take a pen tube or cylindrical object of some sort and wrap a prusik around it and thread the small loop and rest of the line through it.

    Remove the tube and voila.

Great bite on the knot, no slip. Been using it for years, no problems, and no hardware.

Well ****. That is beautiful. 10/10

I larks head an 8-10 inch loop of shock cord to my tarp’s tie outs, then use guyline with a mini evoloop prusiked to it... soft link the mini evoloop to the shock cord, adjust by tensioning the prusik

That is a neat trick. It came in handy when I was changing the ridge line on a tarp, using the casing of a ballpoint pen for the tube.

For me, knots are the most reliable, foolproof and wide ranging solution for guy lines. I use D-Rings on my corners and Andrew Skurka's knot system. Has never failed me and is very simple to learn and repeat.

    That said...

For ease of use, I think linelocs are best, especially for cold, wet or gloved fingers. Knots work in the instance, but it's not as easy or comfortable. When I get to camp and it's getting dark and sleeting, I do not want to tie knots.

I use Line Lock Lights sold by Dutch with a variety of cordage depending on the conditions I'm expecting. 1.5mm for lighter use in more ideal conditions, 2.0mm Lawson Glowire for more inclement conditions.

This is genius! Then I remembered, I've come to hate prussiks.

Add an extra loop under them like Myers does and they tend to work better. I have one end of my tarp done that way on the ridgeline and the other as just a standard pussik. The one w/ the extra loop functions much better.
