I'm looking for some info regarding Otter Creek Wilderness in the Monongahela NF (WV). There is not a lot of info/trip reports that I can find. I've seen the trips on midatlantichikes.com (for example http://www.midatlantichikes.com/id142.html) and most of the recent comments are 5 or 6 years old. It sounds like the trails are very overgrown.
A more to the point question... I have taken my kids to the Dolly Sods a couple time and I'm thinking about Otter Creek for this summer. Thinking of 3 nights, short miles (4-5ish per day), maybe a basecamp and dayhike one of those nights. Kids are 8, 10, 12 and have been on multiple backpacking trips (no problems with wet feet or mud in the Sods). Is Otter Creek a reasonable place for kids? Any suggested itineraries?
