Hello from central Illinois

I've been lurking on the forum for quite a while, commented here and there, but figure I should introduce myself here.

I'm getting more serious, my first underquilt is being made (HG Incubator 20°) and just received my first bugnet. Gone on a couple overnighters with a DIY underquilt that went okay, but I was definitely cold. Also, that was in a cheap Walmart hammock. Got a wide netless from Dutch a while back, can't wait to put the new gear to the test. My goal is to try and do at least a once monthly hang. Also trying to get my dad into it, just got him a basic hang setup for his birthday. We've done lots of camping and are experienced ground dwellers, but the hammocks really appeal to me.

I've also gotten into splicing Amsteel and creating my own suspensions, ridgelines, and other contraptions. I'm really having fun experimenting with various setups.

Welcome! I think I may try to organize a hang next month at the Forest Glen preserve.

Not sure how close you are to Danville, but may be worth your time to come hang.

Danville is within reach - only variable is if my quilt will be here by then. It was ordered on Feb 28th and has an 8 week lead time. Sounds like fun, given the date works out and the quilt is here I will tentatively plan to join! Are there more details yet?

Also, hold up a second! I just read your signature and profile picture. I've been admiring some of the Nama gear, and I just realized the company is in IL! No way, that's too cool. That suprises me, but is exciting.

Not to hijack this thread, but I did Forest Glen Preserve back in October, and it was fantastic! I'd love to know if/when anything gets organized. IMO, it's the best hidden gem for those in the central/northern part of the state.

As for the OP, welcome to the forum from another Illini! I think you'll be pleased with your new gear.

This sounds great! I'm always a little jealous reading about the hangs that happen all over, not really expecting anything close enough to go to. I really hope I can make it to this.
