Getting Derek’s new illustrated hammock book for free

Derek’s book, "llustrated Hammock Basics”, is only $7.95 on Amazon but qualifies for free shipping if your total order (of all qualified items) is over $25.00. Sometimes I have an order that is under the wire by a few dollars, resulting in about a $7.95 shipping charge. If I add Derek’s book to the order, it totals over $25.00 and the shipping charge is removed. So though my out-of-pocket is the same, I end up with a cool book to share with others. Just a thought if you are ordering from Amazon and come up a little short for free shipping. You can add his book, pay about the same as you would have without it, and have something to donate to that Lil Lending Library box in your neighborhood or outdoor club bookshelf, or your bookshelf.

One great thing about the illustrations is they show both male and female pirates. Hammocks aren’t just for guys!

Though Joy wasn’t a model for those illustrations, here is a photo of her taking a stand against a Big Money developer who wanted to close a public river during outside concerts at the amphitheater he built next to the river (the river was there first).

With each concert the motley crew grew to the size of an armada. Though the event managers tried to spin it that we wanted to “pirate” music - it was clear that we weren’t going to let their money influence close the river. After a few months they gave up that effort.
