Apologies for a mild hijack of the 12 footer discussion.

I liked the entry price to test the size before maybe going to a 12ft, the lack of zippers for more stretchiness, and the overall simplicity. I plan to order a bottom entry bug net later which I think might prove best for my needs and personality. I'm generally an over-packer/preparer, but as of right now, my hammock happiness involves comfort rather than playing with lots of bells and whistles. I also enjoy looking out and around, and unless directly under attack, don't want a bug net in the way................or a top cover. I'll test drive this hammock for the rest of the summer in my back yard. I've got a tiny creek six feet from my hang, and a bug zapper plugged in about 20ft the other direction. Airflow and an unencumbered ride is my goal for now, and under quilt will be my next purchase.

I'm 6'03", 200lbs and middle-aged busted up enough to appreciate comfort. I'll report how she rides after logging a some nights.
Good call. I did the same thing before i bought the 12' Chameleon. Dutch had thw 12' netless on sale for like $30 or $40. I fell in love and ordered the Chameleon not long after.

Gearing up to make a new hammock and almost wish I hadn't read this thread, because now I may need to make several to test length comfort.

You can gain some flexibility being your existing tarp by adding a peak extension. I have used an inexpensive 6' x6' from Wise Owl (about $10)... And rig it at one end. Now I can get a 10' long tarp to adequately cover the suspension on both ends if an 11' hammock. You can either temporarily rig it, so that you don't bring it with a smaller hammock... Or permanently stitch/cement it on if you're using it all the time. Cheap fix.

They are real comfy. I have one for around the house use and am always surprised by it's level of feel-good~~
    Don't take it backpacking though.

I just had a 12-footer Chameleon land on my porch. Took it out today and it's noticeably, grow-ticeably, glacial flow-ticeably snug.
