Long time backpacker looking to start lightening my load and seeking a little more comfort on the trail. Hoping a hammock might mix things up for me when not hiking with my dogs. I’m from a small town SE of Charlotte and like to spend my trail time in the Pisgah and Uwharrie. Most of my gear dates to the 80s/90s so looking forward to learning from the forums and trying something new.
Lots of information on Hammock Forums. Yates Hang is next week. Most of us are car campers. More than a few are lightweight backpacking hammock campers.
Welcome to the forum from just north of Charlotte. I have gleaned some great information from here as I'm sure you will too. I share some of the same stomping grounds and situation. Hammocking and new gear selection has helped me get my pack weight down and sleep better than I have in years. Good luck on your journey.

Thanks all. I was at Yates last weekend doing the northern Dutchman’s Creek/Uwharrie loop. Bit muddy from all the rain we’ve been having but weather outlook seems to be good for next week.
