    Mini tube of sealant?

Every time I need to seam seal something, I throw away about 98% of the tube since it dries up. Then I never have any when I need it and have to make a trip out.

Is there any supplier that sells tiny tubes, like Warbonnet supplies? It would be nice to use one or even two and be done with no mixing with mineral spirits and wasting a bunch.

Gear Aid has a small 0.25 oz tube that comes with a whole patch kit, but they also sell the 1 oz tubes. Too bad they don't sell the 0.25 oz tubes individually.

They also got this as 0.25 tube, but it seems to be more for waders and drysuits. It says it's good for nylon and polyester. Kinda pricey too.

Yeah still all too costly. I can get a nice tube of GE for $3.77 https://www.amazon.com/GE-GE500-Sili...dp/B000M2UPAG/

But I think that's the stuff you have to thin out?

Reviews say it lasts for quite some time too.

Yeah I think so, because it's also an adhesive so full strength it'll most likely be super tacky.

Warbonnet sells the mini tubes in a patch kit with a piece of tarp fabric for $5. Maybe call/email them and see if they'll just sell you a few tubes? Unfortunately, their shipping tends to be pricey ($4.30 to me in Florida for 8 patch kits, then jumps up to $5.10 for over 8).

I thought about that. Likely my best option after a little more searching. Maybe a bulk deal without the patch material.

I know it's not quite the same stuff, but I ordered some Aquaseal to do a patch repair on an inflatable kayak, and they recommended storing it in the freezer to keep it fresh. After 8 months in the freezer, it's still good.

Not sure if this principle would apply to Permatex or Seam Grip, but it may be worth exploring.

I've seen that on some Amazon reviews but never tried it. I believe it was for Seam Grip. Do you thaw it out? Or does it never freeze solid?

The Aquaseal doesn't firm up completely solid, but it does harden a bit when frozen. It doesn't take very long to thaw out though.

I'll try that next time. Even if I can get a few good uses it's better than nothing.

Permatex Flowable Silicone Windshield and Glass Sealer is sold at most auto parts stores and works great. $6 for a 1.5 oz tube.
