NC- Linville Gorge Wintertime Hang; Feb 25-28

    Another great hang!
I only made it there Sat afternoon, saw no rain and mild temps.
Some were there Thursday. They saw some rain but had the big blue, 20 x 30 tarp to hang out under.

I believe about 18 or 19 showed up.

There was no raffle or planned group meals but as usual, some fine food was prepared and shared!

Some went on some day hike ventures before I got there but I'll let them tell about it.
I too will something make and joy in it's making

Thank you Hickery and Slowhike for persevering against great odds to host another fantastical hang.
The camp chefs worked their magic—Big Mike, UncleBubba, Peeeeetey&Pebbles, and big pot of java from Hickery!

Glad you all had a good time. Wish I could have been there. Maybe next year. I've never been to the gorge-- one of these days I'll have to cheek it out.

Would love to see some pics!

"I fish because I love to; because I love the environs where trout are found, which are invariably beautiful... because, in a world where most men seem to spend their lives doing things they hate, my fishing is at once an endless source of delight and an act of small rebellion; because trout do not lie or cheat and cannot be bought or bribed or impressed by power, but respond only to quietude and humility and endless patience...." --Robert Traver

Good times. Thanks to everyone that came. I rolled in around noon on Thursday, left at 3pm Sunday. I'm still laughing. It was on honor to introduce some new folks to the Gorge. I know they'll be back. Thanks to the folks that shared food and firewood. There was plenty of both. SOB certainly did its job Friday in the the rain and took no damage in the wind.Thank you Gorilla Tape. more later

Later.......only thing someone left behind was a black hatchet. Someone said it was Big Mike's. I have it.

I stopped in Bulls Gap, TN Saturday night and got home about lunch on Sunday. Thanks to everyone for accepting this TN boy and making me feel welcome and thanks Hickery for showing us newbs around the Gorge...even if we did do a little "off-trail exploration". It was a blast. Looking forward to Yates. Here's a shot of SOB in the fog Saturday morning. Message_1614431169689.jpg
It ain't always about hammer'n out the miles....Sometimes it's about just 'hanging out"!

Good photo Loner. All those lies being told under SOB are still echoing around the Gorge.
