Something interesting...
Some one learned this weekend that the head waters of Linville River start on Grandfather Mt.
If you go to Google Maps and type in water ways, you can zoom in on any place you want to follow a creek, river, etc.
It may not go to exactly were it springs from the earth but close in most cases.
I too will something make and joy in it's making
Very interesting, Slowhike! As a kid, I’d go down to the river. Mom&Dads place bordered the river. I’d hike up or downstream along game trails on floodbanks. After a while I’d get to a small stream that ran into the river.
I would hike up shallow stream until I found where stream ended in a spring that came out of the ground.
Had lots of creek sand inside my tennis shoes
We were fortunate, me and the kids next door that were about my age.
There was (and still is) a creek that came from two springs about 50' or so above the wider part were we spent hours and hours, looking for frogs, tadpoles, salamanders, crayfish and snakes.
