Neither is right or wrong. Neither will leave you regretting your choice. And chances are, you'll end up with a few hammocks and/or nets anyway. So go grab something and get outside.
This is why I always leave my UQ connected. I pack up pillow and TQ, then unhook one side of the hammock, and start stuffing hammock, UQ, and bug net, until I get to the other end. To deploy, I just do the reverse.

Oh, the other advantage, I can just reach under and tweak UQ position without unzipping!

    I prefer bottom entry
I started with integrated on my hennessy zipper entry, but I did not like the zipper, for multiple reasons.
You need to fully unzip when getting in so you dont tear anything, which opens your whole hammock up to bugs.
I usually camp with others, so whenever I wake up in the night to use the bathroom, the whole camp can hear the zipper.
Sometimes the zipper would get stuck, while you're inside, which gave my anxiety
A pro for the integrated is also a con, is that it keeps everything closed in. Keeps your blankets contained, but you can't hang your legs out.
So then I made a diy bottom entry,
With a bottom entry you pop in and out, quicker, easier, quieter, while keeping a smaller entry hole. It's also nice to be fully removable, although some integrated ones are too.
Also, I hang a gear hammock underneath me, so it is very convenient being able to just reach below me for a blanket or a drink.
Oh, and if you ever tear your bugnet, a lot easier to replace just the bugnet.

Sorry to OP for getting off topic a bit but I have been looking for a pattern for making a bottom entry bug net. any chance you have something to share Monkey Boy?

I am so knew to all of this I don't have an opinion that's worth offering but ... the whole hammock / hang adventure sure lends its self so nicely to DIY. If I don't like the bottom entry, I'll grab a zipper or two and sew it straight to the hammock. My sewing skills stink but its so satisfying that the warts look more like beauty marks to me

I've been a bottom entry bug net user since I made my own for the hammocks I have. The biggest pro for me is flexibility of combination. I have had the occasional insect get in while I was not in it, but that just reminds me to close it up when I leave it.

I used Fronkey’s tutorial post. It’s stickied in the the DIY sticky sub forum near the to-. Here’s a direct link. It’s pretty simple.

I'm a big fan of a separating the bug net from the hammocks. Much easier to adjust your underquilt in a separate bug net and I hate how intergrated nets push on my feet and head when laying diagonal. Plus it's nice to be modular. If bugs aren't an issue it's so nice going with our it.

I am curious how my bottom entry bugnet is going to do when I just want to sit in the hammock cooking or brewing a coffee on solo trips in particular. I spend more time sitting in the hammock on solos.
On my integrated bugnet hammocks I can easily flip the bugnet back and have it out of the way for the day as I only use my bugnet when sleeping in skeeter season.
    Hmmmmmmm. Won't be long.
