I also never bother with UQ hooks. Just have never needed them. The mini binder CL attachment and taut shock cord of the suspension keeps it all right where I need it.

The first was an impulse buy from the Walmart clearance bin. Then a Chameleon Wide. Then a DIY 12 foot gathered end. Finally Just Bill made a Big Guy Bridge for me. I wish I had started there.

No issues with shoulder squeeze when back sleeping or with knees hitting the sides when side sleeping?

The BGB is very wide. I've never had any issues in any position. It's not as much of a "bathtub" design, much flatter. BGB2jpg.jpg

11'. 65" wide. 1.6 hexon, single layer. The peak shelf is built in and works great. Jared is the best in the business. It's awesome

Two - For one summer canoe camping trip I bought one cheap ($30) GE from Amazon to try out sleeping off the ground (I brought my tent along as backup in case it didn't work out). Even with that, I slept much better than I did in the tent. I then set about researching different hammocks and settled on a WBRR. Since the first night in it I knew I was all set. It re-invigorated camping for me - both canoe camping and backpacking because now I can count on a great night's sleep every night.

    1) WBBB Better than the ground, but i could never get 100 per cent comfortable. Heel pressure. Sold it.
    2) JRB Bear Mountain Bridge. Like sleeping in a coffin with high sides. Hated it. No view. Then, on the day I was selling it, I tried it with a pad and regretted that the deal had been struck! Would buy again.
    3) WBRR. Loved it from day one. But I thought carrying poles everywhere was a bit of a pain, so I thought I would give a longer gathered end one last try...
    4) WBBBXL. I wanted to love it, but just couldn't get comfortable. Sold it.

So the chosen one is the RR.

Like TrailBlaser above, I can always count on the ridge runner for good night's sleep every time. No fiddling.

I started with an Eno, modified the ends with whoopies and switched out the straps. Used it for about5/6 years with a pad inside my Big Agnes sleeping bag(it has a pocket). Was extremely comfy and had no trouble sleeping. Bought an under quilt, ditched the pad, was even more comfy. Bought a used SLD Trail Lair, 11’, have only used it a couple of times. Still adjusting to the integrated bug net.

It depends on how you count them. I have only owned two: a 9’ GE from Costco and a Dutch Chameleon. Both worked well for me since I am short. I do like the fabric of the Chameleon better.

In the meantime, my family members have had other hammocks: an SMR 12’ that was way too stretchy and I could not see out of; an SMR 9’ that was hung too tightly and eventually developed a tear; lounging hammocks from Academy that worked but ended up being too short as the kids grew; and one Wise Owl that was really tippy and definitely not designed for a 5’10” guy to camp in.

Our family now owns 3 Chameleons and one Dutch Halfwit.

Then there were the shelters. We had two Nube shelters. I LOVE the bugnet and gear storage on those. But they cannot be pitched in porch mode and are too heavy for backpacking. The little hex tarps are too skimpy in rain storms and don’t provide privacy. We have mostly settled on Warbonnet’s tarps - Mountain Fly and Super Fly.
