    ViDEO: Hammock Thoughts...Pros & Cons~~~

Thoughts on hammocks mainly for a lot of my You Tube watchers.
They ask a lot. So I tell. Good and bad. Mainly good.
Of course did not cover all as the video would take two days to watch.

Good video Shug & I've had many similar thoughts & experiences you outlined, particularly transitioning from the tent to the hammock. That made it fun for me getting back into backpacking after a number of years of laying off raising a family, work and other life priorities & interests.

My first real 'modern' hammock was a Hennessy Expedition (bottom entry) that served me well other than back in those days, there was no such thing as top/bottom quilts, at least as far as I knew. Spent some pretty cold nights with only a cell foam pad on my backside with a down sleeping bag on top. I used that setup up until I backed Dutch's Chameleon Kickstarter campaign.

I'm glad I can walk out to my backyard and practice with suspension/hammock set up & take down, pitching tarps in various configurations, practicing my knot tying, etc. In my case, practice doesn't always make perfect & I had a chuckle when you mentioned how long it can take to set up the hammock versus the tent... I thought it was just me!

And last, knowing at the end of a long day's hike my final destination is the hammock, is much more appealing than the thought of hitting the dirt. Besides all that, it's fun.

Shug, I got cold watching your video. Maybe in past lives my ancestors were blacksmiths, bartenders, cooks in hot kitchens, or in Florida real estate sales
Somewhere under ice on that lake is a fish with your name written on its side. No one else can catch that fish
Sometimes I can set up camp in 10 to 15 minutes.
Other times it’s an hour! Time flys when your having fun

Shug, please spell your daughter’s name and list the site she sells her toboggans-knit hats

    Thanks Shug

Oh yes...the joy of crawling into the hammock and letting out a comfort sigh says it all.

I got cold watching too. It amazes me how down will keep a body warm in those temps.
High temp here today was -4º !

My daughter is Aerial Emery. She is taking custom orders as she sold out of her pre-knitted ones.

Enjoyed this thoroughly in all respects, Shug! You’ve a beautiful oasis there. Really enjoyed the lantern-lit lake skate, too. Thanks for posting.
