Woopie Slings - Are they still used?

I was wondering, are woopie slings still being used out there? I notice more and more hammock videos people are using other Dutchware type of suspension systems like cinch buckles.

Looking for some peoples thoughts on one versus the other. I have been using woopie slings and find them very useful, but wondering if i should try something else.

I stopped using Whoopie Slings because they added more distance needed between trees and I felt there was too much fuss in readjusting the bury for “second look” adjustments, especially in cold rain. Sure, webbing and buckles or daisy chain and carabiners are heavier - no question about that. But weight vs comfort and ease is usually a trade off. Minimum weight has never been a priority. But I’m from a different generation.

In order to see what few have seen, you must go where few have gone. And DO what few have done.

I did whoopies for a few seasons and still carry them for extra-long-hang backup, but i switched to strap directly knotted onto continuous loops. Easier to set up.

Using strap-only also gives me the option to attach the tarp directly to the hammock suspension.

I thought you might have been one of the 'converted'. In some of your recent videos it looked like you were using Dutchwear cinch buckle

I still use my whoopie slings every trip. I tried UCR's but I found they slipped on me and did not hold. I like them over the Dutchwear hardware options because of simplicity, ease of use, cost, fewer items to muck with and potentially lose. I started with the MSH but have been using the hummingbird style setup for the last several years. Only contemplation I am making is exploring a Becket hitch setup.

I was using the suspension from Superior Gear hammock to go with my Superior Gear hammock. Will switch it to whoopies in the Spring.

This has been my go to for years:
Tree strap -> toggle -> woopie sling -> continuous loop -> hammock.

I REALLY like this setup. The only downside is that my woopies are like 20" long each. And that means that I need about 15ft minimum between the trees.

When I am in a place where the trees are a bit too close together....then I go with this: tree strap -> becket hitch -> continuous loop.

My current setup is whoopie carabiner to daisy chains,
But I just made some hammocks for my niblings, and my in-laws, and I did ucr with buckles and straps, maximize versatility with minimal weight.
