I have my Borah Gear Snowy side Event bivy for these conditions. I also have Borah Gears bug bivy and a Katabatic Gear Bristlecone bivy. I used to use MLD Cuban Fiber Grace solo and duo tarps.. But sold them off. I did recently purchase a Borah Gear solo silpoly tarp.. My thoughts were to sleep with my bivy and have that small tarp in case overnight showers surprise me. It is minimal but on clear nights with no rain/snow... Laying out in my bivy, with no tarp or cover, in that type of open field, under the stars, is surreal.

On that note..@ odbewlax... How do you like the Lunar Solo? I have my first impressions.. Positive thoughts.. What do you think of it? Have you slept in it enough times and different conditions to say?

Just a couple of pix to illustrate the absolutely perfect bluebird conditions we enjoyed. Squeaky, crunchy cold and almost no wind!!

To be honest, I've not had a night in the LS yet. I've only set it up in the backyard for seam sealing & practiced setup & take down with it as an option for my last trip. I love the design & agree, it's got plenty of room for 1 person and gear & think would perform well on the trail. Mine's a 1st gen version & the things I don't like, such as the vent location & the lack of support for the hood/brim, webbing guyouts, have all been improved with the current version.

Gotcha. Yes understood. I just grabbed the newest version and i can't compare, but i do think i like the change they made from the webbing guy outs to line locs. Though i only have 1 night out in it, i do think I will be keeping this. It packs crazy small, sets up and breaks down stupid fast, only needs 1 trekking pole to pitch, does not weight that much, had ample room for myself, a long wide pad and all my gear (winter gear might i add) and an added bonus I love the dark green color, lol. 20210130_142741.jpg, 20210130_142748.jpg, 20210130_142825.jpg

I don't know, but I just upload them to HF Gallery and link URL from there. I've tried external URLs like Google photos and for me even those don't work!

Trip is giving me flashbacks. I don't mind being cold. I don't mind being wet. But boy do I hate being cold and wet.

Cold and wet is Type 3 fun. And no-drama-queenery dangerous if not properly equipped and experienced.

From the Black Forest Trail in PA, one fine early April...
