    Post New Ridgerunner owner here!

    Hi all,

I just pulled the trigger on these items. I've never owned nor slept in a hammock. Hope it all goes well. Any tips or guidance would be well received and welcomed. Shoutout to the folks over on /r/hammockcamping for helping me get off the ground and into the air.

You ordered a nice setup - you are going to like the simplicity and warmth of the Lynx.

For mine, I also use and underquilt protector (2QZQ makes them specifically for the RidgeRunner). I made a 13 ft ridgeline. It helps when sizing up the hang span and gives me something to hang stuff on/from - like tossing the TQ on it to air out. Last, as long as I’m using daisy chain to the tree, I just put then ends of both dogbones in a warbonnet carabiner and clip into the daisy chain.

I used the ridgeline when I was still using the metal apex connector and connected it there. I don’t think the new model uses that hardware so I’d connect it to the continuous loops if I were using them. But since I’m just using a biner, I’d put the ridgeline loops in that as well.

Your ThunderFly isn’t quite “4-season” without full doors but if you do play in the snow, you can use the white stuff to build walls. I got a ThunderFly to replace a tried and true HH Hex. The ThunderFly is great. You may need to look a little bit harder for a 13 ft snake skin than you would for and 11 ft tarp - but they are out there.

I got a single layer dream-tex to replace my older DL RR for camping. The DL RR will most likely become my main “at home” hammock. My GE’s are a little insecure so I’ll have to remind them that they will be in my pack if I’m at all concerned about finding trees the 15 - 17 ft apart I’d want for the RR. When an adventure partner uses a RR, I bring a shorter (required tree distance) hammock.

In order to see what few have seen, you must go where few have gone. And DO what few have done.

I have a full length lynx as well but have found that using a 25" wide sleeping pad with the double layer RR to be significantly more comfortable. It is more annoying to setup when you get to camp than just clipping on the lynx but if you ever find yourself without trees got the benefit of somewhere cushy to sleep. Either way be sure to give it a try and see what you think.

My wife loves hers. She is a side sleeper and enjoys that option. I sneak in when she is not around :-)

The Eagle has landed. My new RR arrived a few days ago. Have spent two nights in it. And, my word! I thought a hammock would be comfortable but I had no idea it would be this comfortable.

I don’t often review my gear purchases, but I too just bought and used my WBRR last weekend. This is my 4th Hammock, the first 3 were traditional GE hammocks. I felt I would like the bridge, but honestly did not expect to have the most comfortable two nights of sleep I’ve ever had in the trees. Add in a fully functioning WB Silpoly Thunderfly and I’m good to go. Full disclosure, I was waiting on a Dutch Banyan Bridge, but with their production issues, I selected the RR, and I’m glad I did.

So this is not so much a review as me just being happy with my choice!
