    Using UQ for storage

Anyone else use their UQ for storage of stuff sacks etc?

When I set up, I stash the stuff sacks for my TQ, UQ, Tarp and stake bag between the hammock and UQ. During winter, I'll also toss the water filter down there to keep it from freezing. I'd do not put anything heavy in there. Just wondering if anyone else does this.

My stuff sacks go in black-bishop bag or empty side pockets of my pack. Don't ever want to chance my under-warmth being compromised and messing with my warm snooze.

Did that for a bit w/ the sack for my underquilt but could feel it when I happened to move it and there was a temp difference. Now they go in my dry bag.

The only things I ever tend to put between my UQ and hammock are socks and maybe a long sleeve t shirt base layer. I tend to sleep hot and my feet always sweat. I sleep warmer with less on because I don't sweat. I like waking up in the morning and putting on warm socks from the UQ

I put most of those various stuff sacks inside the biggest one and hang them at the foot end of the hammock. If I'm not wearing socks, I usually stick them in the TQ footbox.

I never put anything in my 4-corner suspended underquilt, because the gaps were large enough without anything messing with the fit. However, I have put stuff between my Wooki and my hammock for various purposes like adding insulation or drying out damp wool socks. While it wasn't a problem with the Wooki, I wouldn't use it for storage. Like Shug, I often put empty storage bags into the double ended hammock stuff sack that remains on the foot end of the hammock. Or I leave them in my backpack, which usually hangs on the foot end of my hammock, too.

That's about how I do it too, except I put the sacko'sacks in the hip pocket of my pack.

If my sacks aren’t wrangled they either blow away or creep away by themselves at night. So my suspension bag has been held by the carabiner because I use daisy chain. As I’m toying with switching back to webbing and buckles, I’ll work out a new routine. With the Ridge Runner, I usually put the stuff sack in one of the saddle bags. With a GE, the double ended bag usually stays on the suspension line. If I I want to tidy up, I’ll stuff any excess daisy chain in the suspension bag at one end of the hammock and excess daisy chain at the other end in the now empty hammock stuff sack.

As a minium, all hammock related and other stuff sacks go in ONE empty stuff sack, usually a transparent one. My experience is, “Loose means lost”.

In order to see what few have seen, you must go where few have gone. And DO what few have done.
