Any thoughts/experiences on how the Cloud 71 compares to Hexon 1.0, strictly in terms of comfort? My two Dutch 1.0 Hexon hammocks hammocks are my most comfortable gathered end hammocks aside from my Mayan and Brazilian (which are not backpacking hammocks). I weigh 170 lbs. Of course I'd love to shave a few ounces, but not at the expense of comfort. Being comfortable is why I switched to hammocks!

I took mine out this past weekend in a couple of feet of snow in Harriman State Park in NY.

I have two of Dutch’s OG 1.0 Hexon hammocks and really enjoy the stretch is provides. I felt the almost the same from the C71 fabric but not as much. Also, it was a slightly “rougher” texture so I didn’t slide toward my foot end as much I normally do (and yes I hang my foot end higher). I think the best thing about Rh fabric other than the weight to strength ratio is being able to see my UQ through it in case of adjustments.

In terms of comfort I was super comfortable, and I noticed little to no calf ridge at all.

It's been a year or so since iv hung in my 1.0 so grain of salt of salt for memory. At the time, it was my preferred hang for hiking, but after a few small holes, I had concerns about durability on the trail and moved to a heavier fabric.
This lays fairly similar from what I remember, but feels less delicate and less smooth.
    I'm also 170 lbs.

I got my first night in my Cloud71 (although indoors) and my opinion is about the same as others - not as smooth or slippery as my other chameleons, not too much stretch, and little to no calf ridge. It is see-through, but that makes no difference as I will almost always have an underquilt over it anyways. With the asymmetrical bug net, a peak shelf, a ridgeline organizer, and a dyneema stuff sack it comes in at 395 grams (a little less than 14oz)- almost half what my 1.6 Chameleon is with similar accessories.

Looking forward to getting it out for more testing on some ultralight trips.

Looks like a full size UQ would be needed to ensure mosquitos don’t feast on the visible flesh!

    .71 Cloud Fabric?

What’s the weight limit for this as a double layer?

I don't have a whole lot of time with it but I think I can give it a conservative 325 pound weight rating. In time I may be able to go higher but the fabric is just new and needs some serious field testing first.

Is that 225lbs also a conservative estimate? I am 240 and I was wondering if there will be any negative effects on long term use if I will start using it.

Did you see the 1,000lb break test Dutch released recently on YouTube?

I think you’ll be fine (disclaimer: you might not be)
