I just ordered a Half zipped in cloud 71 in an effort to reduce my pack weight for a 12 daypackpacking trip. I'll take that instead of my BBXLC double layer. Ordered it on Sunday and just got an email that it shipped today. Faster than advertised. Can't wait to see how the comfort compares to the BB.

I find it comfy for sure but the durability as still a wait-and-see to me. I've heard of a couple ripping. One on here and user said fingernail got caught it it leading to a rip.....https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...=1#post2048180
Like all UL gear I reckon one must take care.

I've spent several nights in my cloud 71, as well as using it for a computer video watching couch. I'll admit I'm kind of on edge and very attentive to not having a mishap after the SL unit ripped. I even trimmed my toe nails, wore socks to bed, and double checked my duct tape zipper protectors as I'm not a TQ user. I'm glad I purchased a DL as it gives me more confidence that it would survive a mishap in the back country.
Well I guess I'll have to put it thru the ringer before committing to using it on my extended trip. I am generally pretty careful with my gear but accidents do happen. In retrospect a double layer probably would have given me a bit more confidence. If I change my mind I can still use my son's single layer Eldorado for a little bit of weight savings over my double layer BBLXC.
Thanks

Any thoughts on what an good field repair might be?

Like most all backpackers, I like to keep my load as light as practically possible. I do not have the cloud hammock (yet) but do use a 1.0 for most trips. Like Shug mentioned, you can't expect UL gear to last forever even with good care. For that reason, I've often thought of what I'd do if the 1.0 ever split on me. I'd start with duct tape but if that didn't work or the split got too big, I keep coming back to using my hammock chair as an "under-hammock" to hold me up til I can get back home. Hopefully, this will never be an issue though.

On field repairs, that's kinda what I was figuring. I like the hammock chair idea. I have one of Dutch's chairs in Cloud fabric, and was debating on whether or not to bring it along. Thanks for the thoughts.
