Dyneema Tarp choices to buy

Im looking to get a dyneema 11' tarp with doors and im wondering what brand would be the best choice to choose. Dutchware, hammock gear.......

I like my Hammock Gear DCF tarp w/doors- although I don't use the doors very often. It's nice to have the option though, and the weight penalty isn't high getting the doors.

If you want the best side coverage, I'd recommend the palace, albeit the cost is quite higher.

Zpacks also makes DCF hammock tarps with and without doors.

Yeah the price of the palace is quite a bit higher for my opinion.

If Dyneema and optimum storm protection are what you seek, the Palace is the only real option.

The Standard, Zpacks, and some others are great, but those surprise storms can, and likely will, eventually get ya!!

This is so true especially if you have a bridge hammock. All the others are simply not wide enough for any windy conditions.

My experience is that you can get away with a smaller tarp but it requires a combination of site selection, pitch technique and luck for it to work 100% of the time. So if you can settle for, say, 86% of the time and accept a little discomfort or inconvenience occasionally, a huge tarp isn't strictly necessary.

The formula for success really isn't that complicated. Camp in a spot that is as protected from the wind as you can find, pitch the tarp broadside to the prevailing wind (using a panel pull-out on the upwind side), pitch the tarp ridge line right down to the hammock's SRL, and pray like heck that the wind direction doesn't change.

I got lucky on this one... stiff breeze with no change in wind direction all night!

Thanks for sharing your experience and the photo. I can see a natural depression in the background with the rocky outcrop. Did you consider setting up behind that to block the wind, or was it not suitable?
