    Hammock setup last weekend

Man I love a hammock for the south east! Hard not to be comfortable and enjoy a spot like this. I don’t get out as much as I’d like but I wanted to share the setup.

That looks so sweet. However, I immediately wondered what it would look like if there were a heavy rain. Looks like there are some good trees a little up on the slope. Of course my experience “on the slope” was an exercise in humor as everything I put on the ground would roll down hill. And I had to pay a more attention when getting out of the hammock, especially when sleepy. But I balance that out with experience - back in tent days - when I’d setup in a depression because it was flat. Then it rained.

Your camp is so accessible and clean. And look at the coverage your ThunderFly provides! Great setup (just an eyebrow raise on the location).

I’ve had water come in under me a few times but being in a hammock it was more humorous than a real problem. Just where I’m standing in picture is a tent spot. It is one of the designated locations in this area for camp locations. So much fluf in the gorge I’ve not had a bad issue with water much. It rained over an inch the previous day and no signs of water erosion in this spot.

There's just something really fun about being out in the woods in nasty weather and having that warm, dry 'capsule' from which to observe nature happening.

As long as your shoes are off the ground
