    My New Thunderfly

I had some free time last weekend so I went out and set up my new Thunderfly to check it out and I am quite impressed with the effectiveness of the camo and the versatility of the tarp so I thought I'd share.

Nice! Haven't been able to set mine up yet. Would love some details on that tieout.

That's just 6-8" of 1/8" shock cord run through the D-rings then clove hitched with the guyline. It's clean and looks good, isn't permanent, and still leaves you with guyline connected to your tarp if the shock cord fails. It is also slightly more economical than loops larks headed to tour tie outs because you don't have to knot your shock cord. Just get your guyline larks headed on then stretch the shock cord as long as it will along your guyline and clove hitch the ends together there.

I don't see anything... well, just a bit of orange string in the woods

Nice! Hadn't seen it done that way. I've been using Shug's method of a single line of shock cord clove hitched to the guyline on both ends of the shock cord, but I really like this. Might have to try it. Looks great.

I started out that way but it made it so I was having trouble when I wanted to pitch my tarp as low as possible for bad weather in my superfly. This keeps the cord closer to the tarp allowing you to get closer to the ground.
