    Guyline storage options on tarp.

Anyone know of any options or gear out there that allows for the extra guyline storage while the tarp is in use? ENO uses Velcro tabs to hold rolled line when in use and when stored. Some tarps have pockets for line. My Hammock Gear journey doesn’t and I don’t wanna just roll it I wanna neatly store it. Anyone know of attachments or anyone made any neat DIY innovations? Thanks.

A figure 8 wrap secured with a slippery half hitch does it for me.

Firstly, as a fellow Richmonder, welcome!

I don't think SilvrSurfr was trying to be rude. Was just pointing out the lengths some people go to to keep everything neat and tidy. This place is full of great people willing to share their knowledge.

Shug's idea is a great one! (If you don't know Shug, check out his YouTube channel, a wealth of info!) The figure-eight wrap is a great method. I have seen some people tie a small loop of shock cord to the tieout d-ring to tuck the figure-eight wrapped excess into.

Lol, I remember thinking that in the beginning as well. Just have to be a duck to his water.

I have the shock cord loop w/ a line lock and another lock (not sure what it's called) on the loop that lets me pinch the gathered extra in the shock cord loop.

I started out putting split rings on all the D-rings and figure-9’s on those split rings - keeping the guylines separate in a ziplock bag (all in one bag, not separate). But that was a lot of weight and pointy things compacted into a stuff sack (pre-snake skin days). Now I keep the line attached to the tarp with little bars for line locking. But I don’t like that either. I think I’ll try a short, 6- 8 inch, bungee cord larks headed to the tarp and use those adjustable linelocs with a hook to connect the guy line to the bungee loop. I never used bungee in the past but I like the way it shapes the tarp. I made some “spring” guy lines that have a bungee with fixed line limiting its stretch. But that might be “over caution” in the environment I’m mostly in. If a bungee were to snap, it would be easy enough to connect the guy line directly to the tarp D-ring. At this time, my guy lines go in ONE ziplock bag. I carry two heavier/longer lines for setting up in porch mode.
In order to see what few have seen, you must go where few have gone. And DO what few have done.

Thank you CougarMeat. Between this and LowTech’s ideas I have the answer to what I was searching for. Thank y’all. I have shock cord and will pick up some locs for REI tomorrow and make em. Have my tarp set up across my living room rn, as I was sealing my ridgeline and pullouts.
    Thanks again.
